AUTOMAT is proud to present There. Again, a two person exhibition investigating domestic narratives and the legacies we ascribe to our heirlooms.
Elizabeth Hamilton’s meticulous reproductions of fine china on paper plates, alongside David Beker’s non-traditional cabinetry and reimagined domestic forms, work to draw us into a scene both familiar and otherworldly. The objects invoke a sense of dislocated déjà vu, as if unearthed in an adjacent multiverse or a parallel moment in time. This interplay of contrasting materials and forms challenges the boundaries of authenticity, referencing the fragility and persistence of family history, and inviting viewers to find new meaning in the repurposed relics that shape our lived experience.

David Beker is a Philadelphia based designer, craftsperson, and artist. Drawing from his experience as an architect and digital artist, his work exists in a space between functional furniture and abstract sculpture.
Elizabeth Hamilton is a Philadelphia based artist whose practice ranges from sculpture and installation to collage and drawing. Using domestic objects as a visual language, her work explores home as a repository and sanctuary, as well as what it might mean to lose that space.
